INTRODUCTION
Murcia is an autonomous community located in Spain, in the southeast of the Iberian Peninsula.
1-MONUMENTS
The Cathedral of Murcia is a key piece of Spanish Baroque. It is one of the most important buildings of this city and, of course, of the Region.
The Roman Theater of Cartagena is located in the Cerro de la Concepción. This location was very common at the time. The location on the side of a hill facilitated the construction of the grandstand taking advantage of the rock of the mountain and the north orientation.
Bateria de Castillitos:
It is a military fortress built during the dictatorship of Primo de Rivera. You can visit the different rooms and corridors and even go to the top of one of the imposing Vickers cannons that were installed to protect Cartagena from the attacks and that arrived to be used in the Civil War.
Caravaca is one of the eight holy cities of Christianity. To visit Caravaca, it is essential to go to the Basilica of Santa Cruz, where you can buy a pilgrimage certificate.

3-FESTIVALS
Among the many festivals, Easter is one of the most important and multitudinous in the region. In Murcia there are the popular processions in which the Nazarenes distribute sweets to the public, and the beautiful carvings by Francisco Salzillo.
In the spring festival thousands of people wearing the typical Murcian costume accompany the great cavalcade that runs through the city. The culmination of these celebrations is the colorful Burial of the Sardine, in which hundreds of toys are distributed from huge floats adorned with allusions to the gods of Olympus.
Feast of May: May is the month of the sumptuous parades of Moors and Christians of Abanilla; of the scenes made with rag dolls, distributed through the streets of Alhama for the celebration of the Mayos; and the multitudinous spectacle of the Fiestas de la Santísima y Vera Cruz de Caravaca, which commemorates an event that took place in the 13th century, where luxurious horses are entangled with velvet and silk embroidery.
Summer celebrations: The summer gathers a great number of celebrations with the marine processions of the Virgin of the Carmen in several localities of the coast; the celebration of the Harvest in Jumilla that starts with the first grapes of the season. It is also the period of the theater and music festivals of San Javier. La Unión and Los Alcázares.
4-BEACHES
To a region so warm you could not miss the coast. I would like to highlight three beaches.
Calblanque Beach is located in the Regional Park of Calblanque. Wrapped in a mountainous environment, with crystal clear calm waters and a golden sand turned into one of the most beautiful beaches of Murcia.
Cala Cortina is in the municipality of Cartagena. It has good services, such as inftanil area, and a promenade to walk the pleasant nights.
Poniente beach for it is a long beach, 1,100 m and has good equipment.
5-MOUNTAINS
The Carmolí is a volcanic cone from an extinct volcano located on the shores of the Mar Menor and next to the town of Los Urrutias, in the municipality of Cartagena (Region of Murcia, Spain).

6-GASTRONOMY
Excellent vegetables from the garden, good offer of meat and the precious treasures of the sea are in the region of Murcia. Some typical dishes of Mucia are:
The» calderon del mar menor» is a very typical Murcian rice, it has become one of the essential dishes that you have to try if you are in Murcia. Originally, it was a seafood dish that fishermen used to eat, using rice, ñoras, rock fish and whitebait to prepare the broth.
The «zarangollo» is a scrambled egg made with various products from the garden, usually zucchini and onion, although it is also common to add potatoes or eggplant. There are those who dress it with aromatic herbs and spices
«El pulpo al horno» Murcia style is an exquisite dish, whose ingredients are, in addition to the octopus, the juice of a couple of lemons, water and salt.
The «paparajotes» are a dessert very typical of the Murcian community. They are made by coating some lemon leaves with a dough made with flour and eggs. Then they are fried and sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar.
