My Experience in Huesca

MY TRIP TO AINSA

The October long weekend went with my family to Huesca, to the Pyrenees.

We stayed in a rural house called «Las Eras» in Ainsa. It was beautiful and had a huge garden, where my brother and I did not stop playing in the few times we had between trips. From our window you could see all of Ainsa and at night the illuminated bell tower.

The first day we were visiting La Villa de Ainsa, its fortress, its streets and medieval constructions.

It seemed as if we had reversed the story and we were in the era of the castles.

In the town of Ainsa I visited the Museum of Traditional Arts and Crafts, it was very interesting to know the different crafts that were made by hand before the appearance of the industry and still remain in some villages.

Another day we went on a trip to the Ordesa y Monte Perdido National Park. We got up early to get there and we started the trip to Los Llanos de Larri, what a mountain, and what colors, this is nature!

Upstairs we took a sandwich, a short break and went down a mini staircase dug into the rock and that as the floor was wet, they slipped and were somewhat dangerous, thanks to our canes we avoided a fall. We went down next to the waterfalls of the Gradas de Soaso and it was amazing to see the water fall.

Another excursion that we did was to the Añisclo Canyon. Another early start and up. The road to get there is one way, on one side you have a huge mountain and on the other a ravine with the Bellos river below. Even in the car it was scary.

At the beginning of the march is the Hermitage of San Urbez, almost excavated in the rock.

The forest in this area seems practically a jungle. The trails are very narrow and you imagine a lot of adventures when you walk by them.

Unfortunately we had to return to Madrid, but I’m looking forward to next fall to plan another trip to Huesca and get to know another area of the Pyrenees that I can tell you about.

See you soon!
